The Serge Ferrari Group contributed to the construction of a multi-sport complex for the city of Poznań, Poland, by supplying Flexlight Shield 800 and Flexlight Classic 942 membranes.
A new sports and leisure venue in the heart of Poznań
Located in western Poland, Poznań is one of the country’s main industrial, academic, and cultural centers. For several years, the city has been investing in the development of modern and accessible sports facilities to encourage sports participation for all.
Within this framework, the new Chwiałka multi-sport hall was built — a versatile facility designed to host local clubs, schools, and community sports associations. The complex covers a total surface area of 1,540 m², including annex buildings (ticket office, restrooms, and technical rooms).
The facility notably includes an indoor ice rink measuring 24 x 48 meters, equipped with an integrated refrigeration system, as well as a multi-sports area of 1,225 m² that can be configured for various activities such as handball, ice hockey, volleyball, badminton, basketball, and roller sports.

To meet the project’s technical and safety requirements, the designers selected Flexlight Shield 800 and Flexlight Classic 942 membranes from the Serge Ferrari Group — materials renowned for their durability and outstanding performance under climatic stress.
A roof in Flexlight Shield 800
The roof of the multi-sport complex is made of Serge Ferrari Flexlight Shield 800, a composite membrane compliant with the BROOF standard, now a European reference in fire resistance.
Beyond its safety features, this membrane stands out for its ability to diffuse natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting and creating a bright, pleasant environment for users. Its high mechanical strength also ensures the long-term durability of the structure, even under severe weather conditions.
Side walls in Flexlight Classic 942
The hall’s side walls are made of Flexlight Classic 942, a flexible and robust fabric suited for modular constructions. Thanks to the exclusive Précontraint technology developed by the Serge Ferrari Group, the membrane remains perfectly tensioned and dimensionally stable — without folds or deformations — even after years of exposure.
It also offers excellent UV colorfastness and great flexibility of use: in summer, the side panels can be rolled up to promote natural ventilation.
A coherent and efficient design for sports facilities
This project illustrates the Serge Ferrari Group’s ability to support the design of modern, safe, and environmentally open sports buildings. The combination of Flexlight Shield 800 and Flexlight Classic 942 membranes fully meets the project’s objectives:
