Volkswagen Arena: a modern stadium in the heart of Wolfsburg
ABOUT
The Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg has been the home stadium of VfL Wolfsburg since 2002.
The Arena, located in the Allerpark, has a capacity of 35,000 spectators. In addition to soccer matches, the Volkswagen Arena is also a venue for concerts and other events. International artists such as Elton John and Anastacia have already performed here. Thanks to its excellent acoustics and flexible stage systems, the Arena is ideally suited to this type of event.
In May 2001, VfL began construction of the Volkswagen Arena in the Allerpark. Acceptance was celebrated a year later, and the stadium was officially opened on December 13, 2003.
An elegant, urban roof, covering all the seats and capable of being fully enclosed: this was the main requirement for the project. The result was a rectangular hybrid construction with a modifiable inner roof. The structure is supported by 32 beams, reinforced by tension and compression rings that stabilize the contours of the membrane. Flexlight Advanced 1202 S2 membrane, combining durability and color stability over time, is ideally suited to covering sports facilities.
