ABOUT
In order to prepare the stadium for the 2006 Football World Cup and adapt it flexibly to weather conditions, an innovative mobile roof structure was installed.
The translucent Flexlight Advanced 1002 S2 membrane is folded into the middle of a cable-supported structure and parked in the video cube when not in use in fine weather. In this way, the spectators – up to 48,000 – can enjoy the soccer match in all weathers without fear. The construction project was carried out by gmp Architekten and sbp Schlaich Bergermann Partner.
