An exceptional façade in Tenseo Frontside 381 for an iconic automotive brand
ABOUT
Serge Ferrari Group supplied its Tenseo Frontside 381 membrane for the construction of the façade of a new Buick automotive dealership located on Shanghai.
An established automotive brand
Founded in 1903, Buick is one of the oldest American automotive brands still in operation. Now part of the General Motors Group, it has become a benchmark for premium vehicles. While historically emblematic of the North American market, the brand made a strategic shift in the 1990s by expanding into China. In 1997, General Motors partnered with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) to establish the SAIC-GM joint venture, securing a long-term foothold in the Chinese market.
Buick has experienced significant success in China, where it has become one of the most popular automotive brands in the country. With products adapted to local expectations, Buick has long offered exclusive models, often more spacious and luxurious than their American counterparts. In China, the brand enjoys a strong image associated with prestige, success, and modernity. This positioning is supported by a wide-reaching network of modern dealerships and is now evolving, driven by the shift toward electric mobility.
A refined façade project using Tenseo Frontside 381 membrane
As part of this network enhancement strategy, Buick recently opened a new dealership in Shanghai, featuring a sleek and contemporary façade. For this project, the Tenseo Frontside 381 membrane from Serge Ferrari was selected by PSAC Architect and installed by XuBen Construction on the upper portion of the building, Solarskin solution is perfectly matched with 381 membrane for this project. A total of 246 m² of fabric was used for this section of the façade. Four other Buick dealership façade have been renovated with the same design across China.
Tenseo Frontside 381 is a high-performance microperforated textile specifically designed for façade applications. Its ability to filter light while maintaining outward visibility makes it an ideal solution for commercial buildings with a strong visual identity. In addition, it offers excellent thermal protection, capable of blocking up to 81% of solar heat. Its long-term resistance, even under extreme weather conditions, ensures that the new Buick dealership benefits from a façade that is both functional and visually aligned with the brand’s premium standards.
