Hopen Tower: fresh new look featuring Soltis 99 LowE
ABOUT
Serge Ferrari Group has contributed to the redevelopment of the Hopen Tower, located in the Paris business district of La Défense, supplying 3,000 sqm of Soltis 99 LowE shading for indoor blinds.
An ambitious upgrade project in the heart of La Défense
Formerly known as the Adria Tower, the Hopen Tower has become one of the most iconic transformation projects undertaken in recent years in La Défense, Paris’s business district. Located in the adjacent city of Courbevoie, the building has been in redevelopment since 2021, including a comprehensive upgrade and the addition of three new floors, based on a design led by architecture firm Ateliers 2/3/4. The choice to refurbish rather than demolish and rebuild illustrates a wider concern for balancing out the need for modern amenities with the benefits of reuse and adaptation, working towards a more sustainable vision of urban development.
Rising now at 150 metres and totalling 65,000 sqm, the Hopen Tower was designed to be an example of a sensible approach to accommodating new habits and needs within existing commercial spaces. The project’s mixed-use programme provides a broad diversity of spaces, from office and retail premises to sporting and cultural facilities — and even includes a roof garden! Among the many upgrades the building has been undergoing, the most remarkable transformation will no doubt be the top-floor restaurant, where diners will enjoy captivating views over the west of Paris.
A multifunctional concept serving a variety of uses with sustainability in mind
With its wide range of facilities accessible to the public and large, light-filled spaces, Hopen was designed to foster interactions, promote workplace well-being and serve the local community. This sustainability-driven project targets a number of high-standard certifications and labels, including HQE, BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold, WELL HSR, Ready2Services.
And the building will have a dedicated Sustainability Manager in charge of ensuring that the design’s sustainability goals are met. In addition to this, the project incorporates a strong social vision — the building will house a store focusing on active mobility solutions, host awareness campaigns and develop partnerships with local community outreach programmes and initiatives.
3 000 sqm of Soltis shading for uncompromised comfort and performance
To complete the transformation, Serge Ferrari Group was chosen to supply 3,000 sqm of Soltis 99 LowE shading. Indoor blind systems were manufactured and installed by Soliso for every window across all 26 floors of the building’s lateral extension. Soltis 99 LowE creates a thermal barrier, effectively curbing solar gains within the building. As such, the material is the perfect choice to regulate indoor temperatures and minimise energy use, reducing reliance on air conditioning by up to 40%. In addition, Soltis 99 LowE is also a great option to enhance well-being: delivering effective glare protection, it provides optimal visual comfort for the building’s occupants. This technical solution has proven its worth as an integral part of the Hopen Tower’s energy management and sustainable comfort strategy.
