A spiritual retreat
On the outskirts of the Indian city of Dharampur, north of Mumbai, is the Shrimad Rajchandra ashram. Primarily a spiritual retreat, the ashram is named after a late 19th-century figure, Shrimad Rajchandraji, an ascetic known for his philosophical reflections on soul knowledge and a friend of Gandhi. The ashram also houses a monumental statue in his likeness, over 10 meters high.
The meditation hall: a place of calm and serenity
The Shrimad Rajchandra ashram houses a very special space, conducive to meditation and contemplation. This meditation hall, completed in November 2023, covers an area of nearly 1600 m² and is distinguished by its subdued atmosphere, its calm and its silence. This uniqueness was at the heart of the building’s development project and dictated the choice of the acoustic solution, respecting both its spiritual identity and its architectural layout. As a place of meditation, it was indeed necessary to ensure calm and comfort for the space, and to minimize as much as possible the sound reverberations that could disturb the tranquility of the occupants. The Tenseo Comfort AW membrane from the Serge Ferrari Group was therefore the ideal solution.
Alphalia Silent AW: an acoustic solution that respects the harmony of the place
The Tenseo Comfort AW textile membrane is capable of absorbing up to 65% of noise without requiring additional installations. Flexible and solid, it allows great freedom of shape and thus adapts to all architectural styles. The fabric also offers effective sun protection, filtering UV rays and reducing incoming heat. Finally, the fabric also allows optimal light transmission, helping to create a pleasant and warm lighting atmosphere. The Tenseo Comfort AW membrane can thus meet the most demanding acoustic needs, while respecting the identity and harmony so particular to the place.
