La Gacilly Photography Festival

For 20 years, La Gacilly Photography Festival has been an important yearly event for photography lovers. Traditionally held in the small town of La Gacilly, in Southern Brittany, since its inception the festival has remained steadfast in its ambition to offer a platform for photographers to share their own vision of the world’s major environmental and societal issues.

Every year, exhibitions are underpinned by a strong thematic approach focusing both on specific geographic or cultural areas and challenges currently facing society and the environment. Running from June 1st until October 1st 2023, this year’s event presents works on the theme ‘Nature as Legacy’: a welcome reminder for us all of our mission — our duty — to work together towards a more sustainable world.

The town as an exhibition space

La Gacilly Photography Festival is unlike any other event because it provides visitors with an immersive, living-and-breathing experience of photography where emphasis is placed on the individual journey of each visitor through the town. Every year, as summer settles in, La Gacilly transforms into an open-air exhibition space, with streets, squares and gardens serving as a historical backdrop and natural setting for the hundreds of photographs selected for showing. The town-wide art gallery that is La Gacilly offers unlimited access to the works at all hours of the day and night, encouraging visitors to reflect on their relationship to nature and our contemporary world.

Seemee Frontlit Ultra Mat as a print medium for photography

This event’s unique outdoor setting called for a print medium suitable for large-scale display that would also meet a number of environmental and practical requirements. To ensure the best viewing experience, many of the works have been printed on Seemee Frontlit Ultra Mat (B7615), a composite fabric manufactured by Serge Ferrari Group. The material was selected by the organising committee for its ease of use, with widths of up to 5 metres, high visual quality and phthalate-free composition.

This solution allows the Festival to showcase the photographs in perfect viewing conditions, with large-scale prints using a medium specifically developed for high weatherproof resistance and flawless visual rendition, to truly bring out the beauty of the images.
