A high-performance textile facade for Llíria’s New Courthouse
About
Serge Ferrari Group contributed to the construction of the textile facade for the new Llíria Courthouse (Valencia, Spain) using Tenseo Frontside 381 membrane.
An Institutional Building Designed Around Comfort and Daylight
Located in Llíria, near Valencia, Spain, the new courthouse project forms part of a broader effort to modernize public infrastructure while enhancing indoor comfort for building users. Conceived as a sober institutional building, the project needed to address several key challenges, including solar control, optimization of natural daylight, and overall energy performance.
The architectural firm Ute Gira Fuster Arquitectos, appointed to oversee the project, selected a textile facade system. Designed as both a technical and architectural solution, the facade contributes to the building’s distinctive identity through a dynamic arrangement of vertical lines that animate its exterior. Rather than covering the entire facade, the textile elements take the form of large vertical panels, fabricated and installed by BAT SPAIN, a specialist in textile facades and tensile architecture.
Large-Format Tenseo Frontside 381 Textile Fins for Precise and Durable Solar Protection
Each textile panel stands over 7 metres high and functions as a true solar-shading fin. The system consists of a lightweight aluminium structure incorporating a tensioned textile membrane on both sides, covering a total surface area of approximately 950 m².
Tenseo Frontside 381 membrane was selected in a Midnight Blue colourway to complement the building’s architectural aesthetic. Positioned in front of the curtain wall, the panels help control solar heat gain while preserving outward visibility and transparency.
Featuring Serge Ferrari Group’s Précontraint® technology, Tenseo Frontside 381 can block up to 85% of solar heat, making it an ideal solution for lightweight, low-carbon facade construction. Beyond its technical performance, the membrane plays a key role in shaping the project’s architectural identity. Its deep, uniform colour gives the building an elegant and contemporary appearance while highlighting the refinement of the facade system.
