Horatio’s garden: Hospital & Botanical garden
ABOUT
Horatio’s Garden is a wonderful charity that creates gardens to support those recovering from life altering spinal injuries.
The Horatio’s garden is a ‘safe haven’ where patients & volunteers can relax and recover from stressful moments. A wood laminated atrium with diamond glazed units in the roof allows enjoyment of the sun and the benefit of natural light whilst still being undercover. Unfortunately, some of the windows in the roof were leaking so repairs had to be done urgently. Architen Landrell of Chepstow in South Wales performed the job in a sleek way which ensured the minimum of disturbance on the site.
STFE membrane
They added a STFE 50 tensile membrane over the top of the entire roof. This solution maintains the ‘view-through’ and avoids the unpleasant sense of being enclosured. The existing wooden frame and roof windows were retained, and the entire installation was carried out in a matter of a few days.
