ABOUT

Located in China’s Fujian province, Xiamen is a port city open to the Taiwan Strait. Today, it is one of the largest ports in Asia, and its historic urban center is situated on an almost circular island that forms the economic heart of the city.

Xiamen holds the status of a “special economic zone,” a unique economic designation that makes the city a highly advantageous location for businesses. Dynamic and prosperous, Xiamen is a fertile ground for innovative architectural projects. Recently, it inaugurated a brand-new sports infrastructure, a 60,000-seat multi-purpose stadium

The multi-purpose stadium of Xiamen

Built on the waterfront, the multi-purpose stadium in Xiamen is currently one of the few in China that can be fully reconfigured to host both football and athletics. Constructed on a total area of 180,000 m2, the stadium is distinguished by its resolutely modern design, dominated by curves. Its ultra-modern, almost futuristic aesthetics mark the city’s landscape and contribute to its dynamic and open image

A PTFE membrane roof

The roof of the Xiamen Stadium is a notable technical and aesthetic achievement, designed with a PTFE membrane from Serge Ferrari Group. Covering nearly 55,000 m2, this innovative material fulfills several key functions. Thanks to its ability to transmit light, it allows the interior of the stadium to be bathed in natural light while protecting it from the elements, a necessary feature for a coastal climate.

Benefiting from very high mechanical resistance, the PTFE membrane offers optimal fire resistance according to the highest international standards. In addition to its functional qualities, the Serge Ferrari Group PTFE membrane plays a central role in the stadium’s visual aspect. It significantly enhances the unique character of the architecture, complementing its forms and enabling the boldness of its organic curves.
